Frequent Questions
How is Mercy & Sharing financed?
Mercy & Sharing has helped children in Haiti since 1994 (17 years) based on the generosity or individuals, corporations, foundations, churches and other charitable organizations. The Board of Directors of Mercy & Sharing pays 100% of U.S. administrative costs. While M&S has applied for funding from USAID, we have not received any government funds to date.
Can I just volunteer to collect goods
or go on a mission trip to Haiti?
Your heart for children and passion is inspirational to us! Shipping containers of goods to Haiti costs about $7000. In order for us to justify this cost, we only ship high value items or essential items that are difficult to find in volume in Haiti (i.e. computers, diapers, medical supplies, and equipment). Our staff in Haiti is carefully selected and trained to handle funds with the utmost accountability. Sending money to help children in Haiti is the fastest, most efficient use of resources.

We employ over 225 Haitians who work hard implementing Mercy and Sharing’s vision. Over 60% of our employees are women. Our staff is focused entirely on serving the children and elderly who come our way. Many are disabled and some come to us near death. Due to the overwhelming demands of our current programs, we are not able to host volunteers in Haiti. We encourage you to reach out to other organizations that have dedicated staff members coordinating the important work of volunteers.
