During the past several months the Foundation
has been working with community associations in the local communities in
an effort to transfer the financial and operational responsibilities of
several schools formerly founded and/or operated by Mercy and Sharing Foundation.
Schools (as opposed to orphanages) do not require 24 hours 7 days a week
care and attention. Conditions in the country have worsened so much that
an unusually high number of sick and handicapped children, requiring full
time care and attention, have been recently placed in our orphanages. We
must now concentrate our financial responsibilities on the welfare of our
orphaned children. The care of orphaned infants and ill children has created
a budget increase as the cost of medicine and formula, as well as a demand
for more house mothers, to care for those in need of round-the-clock care.
The following schools are no longer associated with the Mercy and Sharing
Foundation:
Thomazeau School
Gode School
Berthe School
Furcy School
Tante Sainte School
Boucan School
We hope to be able to provide occasional aid in the form of donated school
supplies and clothing.
