Decouze
School - 850 students Address: Rue de L'Amitie Jacmel, Haiti Goal: Maintain current level, and transition to in-house projects. The school in Decouze near Jacmel has approximately 850 children: boys and girls ranging from 4 to 17. This is a primary and secondary level school. In keeping with Haitian tradition, all of Mercy and Sharing’s schools operate Monday through Friday 8am to 1pm. Meals were provided at Decouze school on an irregular basis this year due to inability to get several containers of food through the Haitian customs system during highly volatile times. On January 30, 2001 a 40 foot container of food was released and delivered to our storage in the Port-au-Prince area. This will allow will allow us to provide a more consistent meal program for the coming school term. |
